Sandy is a retired science educator, specializing in Biology and Middle School science for a career. She graduated from Howard Payne College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor/second teaching field in English. She followed her coaching husband all over Texas, teaching a wide variety of science classes as well as other subjects. Since her retirement, she has kept her hand in various aspects of education, including working in several supportive roles with Dr. Patricia Sulak and her award-winning adolescent wellness curriculum (which she taught to Middle School science students). She has also been the homebound teacher for teen parents in Georgetown ISD, helped several families with home-schooling, conducted online criminal background checks, and taught Dr. Sulak’s program at a Maternity Home.
She and Randy, her husband of 49 years, are also deeply invested in their church, serving in a variety of ways, including choir, teaching Bible study, and missions to Eastern Europe, Pacific Northwest, and Queens, New York. They have two adult sons, one daughter-in-law, and twin precious-but-challenging granddaughters.
