How ya feeling? Some of my patients and friends often share their challenges with the aging process – the aches, pains, increasing body fat, loss of strength and stamina. What if we focused on being:
YOUNGER? Many years ago, I really enjoyed listening to the audio series entitled: Younger Next Year. It inspired me to take on that philosophy. FACT: Unless you are knocking at death’s door (which we all will be one of these days), there is always something we can do now to improve aspects of our health. Can we be physically younger a year from now? For most of us, the answer is a resounding “YES!” Since most Americans are overweight (7 out of 10) and not meeting the physical fitness guidelines (45 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise most days of the week), there is ample opportunity to be Younger Next Year. That’s GREAT NEWS!
We have to THINK younger. You know what I’m talking about. There are people who think “old.” They are not going to change. They have all the excuses. There are people who think “young.” They are not done. They have just begun. It’s all about mindset. Our thinking rules our emotional health which rules our physical health. If we want to be younger, we have to think younger. Our body is constantly waiting on instructions from the Command Center, our thinking brain, to tell us what to do, or not to do. To be younger next year, we may have to upgrade our brain’s software or install a new operating system that commands our body to run more efficiently, to think younger.
Congrats to all of you out there that are Younger THIS Year! My sister in law has lost 25 pounds. One of my patients returned to see me this week. She’s lost 21 pounds in the last 3 months. A friend of mine recently gave me some of the details of her exercise regimen. She’s 70+, going on 29! Check out Robert Marchand. He’s 108 and still going strong. Email me your success story. Don’t have a success story? NOW is your time. At any point, we can decide to be younger next year – drop some weight, put on some muscle, increase our stamina, dump “old” thinking that is destroying our health and happiness. To do so, we have to change our “story” – our BS (belief system) – that is not getting us where we are capable of being.
You are what you think. It’s the last quarter of 2020. End the year on a positive streak. Don’t wait till January 1st to get on the wellness wagon. It’s all about mindset. Install a “Wellness Mindset” into your subconscious mind by continually focusing on what you CAN do, not what you can’t do. Think HEALTHY. Think YOUNG. It’s about Living WELL Aware!
