We can all be absolutely convinced of a number of things. That things should be a certain way – the ONLY way. That people need to act as WE think appropriate. It’s our way or no way. We can be convinced that something is just not possible for us to be, or do, or have. We can be really upset by the actions of others. We have to ask ourselves: Is our interpretation, our way of seeing things:
TRUE? Are we absolutely certain it’s true? Absolutely certain? With today’s always-on, 24/7 media outlets with people (with their own agendas, mind you!) telling us what we should think, what we should do, what we should have, how we should respond, it behooves all of us to stop and THINK. Is it true?
We can find ourselves believing all sorts of discouraging, even destructive, thoughts:
- I’ll never get healthy.
- I can’t be in an amazing relationship.
- That person doesn’t deserve to be forgiven.
- What are these people thinking?
Life is perception! What I see in the world is what my mind is reflecting outwards. It’s a mirror, not necessarily fact. If I see predominately mayhem, turmoil, difficulties, and negativity, I may feel anxious, angry, even depressed. On the other hand, if I predominately see a world of possibility full of opportunities, then I’m more likely to find peace, joy, and fulfillment. I’m more creative, productive, and more likely to accomplish what I envision.
What things should we consider certain, that are true? How about:
- My life will go on despite the actions of others. I know what I am called to do.
- I CANNOT control all the stuff that happens to me. However, I CAN control how I frame that stuff, the MEANING I give to life’s challenges!
- I am nowhere near the version I am capable of being. I need to work on ME, not them.
- I am not my past experiences. I will be the person I choose to become.
When things go the way we desire, let’s humbly and gratefully accept them. When they don’t, let’s turn obstacles into opportunities. What is true? There is always something we can do to make a situation better. No matter what happens this week, this month, this year, or next year, decide what is TRUE for you. You are bigger than your problems. You are bigger than the actions of others. The happiness is inside you. It’s not out there – never was, never will be. That I personally believe is absolutely true. That is Living WELL Aware!
